About Mr. LaVoy:
Mr. LaVoy is a founding shareholder in the firm. He represents individuals and corporate clients in a wide variety of civil litigation matters, including contract disputes, business related tort claims, insurance coverage and bad faith claims, professional malpractice claims, and personal injury claims. He has experience with complex litigation, including class actions. He has also represented clients on appeal in the state and federal appellate courts.

Mr. LaVoy previously worked at Steptoe & Johnson, L.L.C. from 1997 to 1999 and at Gust Rosenfeld from 1995 to 1997.

Representative Cases :

  • Prosecuting a putative class action seeking between $45 and 135 million under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act involving complex constitutional, statutory construction, and class certification issues.
  • Obtaining $1.6 million fraud, RICO and punitive damages judgment against a housing developer for defrauding client.
  • Recovering $700,000 printing press for manufacturer through pre-judgment replevin when buyer failed to make scheduled payments.
  • Successfully defending mortgage warehouse lending company and owners in multiple putative class actions challenging lending practices.
  • Successfully prosecuted lawsuit with a national public interest organization challenging certain practices of Arizona’s indigent healthcare funding system.
  • Successfully defending corporate directors and officers in lawsuit seeking $15 million in damages for alleged stock conversion and breaches of fiduciary duty.
  • Representing group of physicians in a lawsuit against their medical billing company for failing to properly collect on patient accounts.
